Hi! I am the Shelbi of Shelbi Bailey Photography. I have 3 beautiful children, Ellie & Hank & Benny, a very judgmental 9 year old Shiba Inu, Koji, 2 rescue kittens, Larry&Susie, (Can you guess the TV reference?), and a very patient and loving husband, Andy. My hobbies include eating chocolate, listening to historical fiction audiobooks, and watching Keeping up with the Kardashians. #KimYeForever I am 26 years old and still don't really know what I want to be when I "grow up". I think at this point in my crazy life I would settle for "peaceful". I have blogged on and off for 6 years, and began my photography journey 2 years ago.
In 2016 my son, Hank, was born unexpectedly with liver failure. After fighting for 6 days he returned to his home in Heaven. This experience left me with a gaping hole that I was scared would never be "fixed". 6 months later my husband bought me my first camera.
I attribute this kind hearted decision to God and my angel son as photography gave me something I hadn't had in quite some time, peace. Being behind the lens allowed me a creative outlet to see the beauty that life still had to offer in spite of my own grief and pain.
I've learned that the pain of losing a child is something that can never be fixed, but that doesn't mean that I can't have a full and happy life. On the contrary, I love my life because of the perspective that having Hank has given me. In my journey to discover this, Photography and blogging have been so helpful for me. I am so grateful to every client and every reader that have allowed me into their lives. It is so therapeutic to share my life with others, and extremely rewarding to capture life's precious memories.
